"'Jenever' is a typical Dutch product that can easily be used as a memento of a visit to the Netherlands. By giving it new, modern packaging it can occupy a better place among the array of flower bulbs, Gouda cheese and blue Delft pottery. The alcohol content of jenever gives it a certain status because spirits say a lot about a country; about its climate, its culture and its history. Take vodka, Scotch, Grappa, schnapps, sake, Calvados, etc., for example. All this often serves to make spirits the choice as a personal souvenir. Referring back to the authentic ceramic jenever bottles, we are investigating possibilities for designing a stone jenever bottle with a new, modern image that could easily act as a souvenir. The stone bottle, not only as packaging for the product (the jenever) but also as a bearer of significant moments." mno design
