"One. Everytime when I travel from Belgium to the Netherlands I feel arrived in "the other country" at the moment that my eyes catch the first heron, and I smile.
Two. My idea of Dutch Souvenir is also related with the two artist-in-residence periods: 3 months at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in 1996 and 3 months at the EKWC in 's-Hertogenbosch in 2000, stimulating the most personal in a great number of high quality works in a new technique. My supreme moments of creation are strongly linked with the experience as a small girl playing in the sand along the sea.
The heron linked with the sandform opens a wide range of possibilities: from a hollow little sandform to bigger pudding- and cakeforms, from a series of objects reproduced identically in a factory to unique pieces painted by hand, from a full ceramic piece becomig a presse-papier upon ones desk to a much bigger autonomous sculpture.""
