cadcam residencies starting September 2010
|
CAD/CAM or computer aided design & computer aided manufacturing, has played a modest role at the .ekwc for a few years now. The time has come to considerably expand its position. This spring sees the start of the work centre's pilot for a new digital laboratory.
A studio will be kitted out with the latest equipment to allow people to explore CAD/CAM's limits, if it has any. The acquisition of software, hardware and know how lowers the threshold for professional artists, designers, architects and other interested parties to use CAD/CAM technology. The emphasis is on research and experimentation. Interested, but have no or limited experience? That is not a problem; the .ekwc seeks to mix inexperienced and experienced participants, allowing people to learn from one another.
The unique thing about the digital laboratory is that you'll use the equipment yourself. Making your own prototypes. The .ekwc enables you to subsequently create these in clay. Naturally, you can also opt for other materials such as glass or textiles, but you'll have to do that elsewhere.
The digital laboratory provides a unique opportunity to find out what CAD/CAM can do for you and your work. Have you got a good idea and do you want the freedom to discover how far you can get? The .ekwc provides professional supervision and equipment. Your creativity and resourcefulness do the rest. Take this opportunity and register now for one of the residencies starting September 2010 onwards.
